What Does this MRI Scan Test Result Mean?

IMPRESSION: 1. DIFFUSE SYMMETRIC NARROWING OF BOTH SACROILIAC JOINTS BUT NO DEFINITE ANKYLOSIS OR SCLEROSIS IS NOTED AT THIS TIME. 2. NO EVIDENCE FOR FRACTURE OR SUBLUXATION. 3. INTERNAL PELVIC ORGANS ARE GROSSLY NORMAL. 4. HETEROGENOUS MARROW SIGNAL IS NOTED THROUGHOUT THE ILIAC BONES AND THE SACRUM BUT NO ACUTE CONTUSION OR OCCULT FRACTURE IS NOTED. 5. FACET ARTHROPATHY AT L5-S1. What does 1. DIFFUSE SYMMETRIC NARROWING OF BOTH SACROILIAC JOINTS? 2.HETEROGENOUS MARROW SIGNAL IS NOTED THROUGHOUT THE ILIAC BONES?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The interpretation of MRI is as follows:
An abnormality is detected in the bilateral sacroiliac joints. Both the joints show narrowing.
The narrowing may be due to degenerative process.
However, there is no fracture or disturbance in the position or relation of joints.
All other organs in the pelvis are within normal limits.
The vertebrae at level L5-S1 show some abnormality of facets.
Facet are parts of vertebrae with which they form a connection with counter-part facet.
This change is also degenerative one.
You can consult your referring doctor for further work up.
